La mante religieuse

Parfois appelée « le tigre de l'herbe » en raison de ses mœurs voraces, la Mante religieuse se nourrit d'insectes vivants qu'elle attrape avec ses pattes avant et immobilise en dévorant parfois d'abord leurs ganglions cervicaux puis le reste du corps jusqu'à l'extrémité de l'abdomen. Elle laisse les parties trop dures comme certaines ailes ou pattes. Ses pièces buccales sont de type broyeur, ce qui lui permet de manger très facilement des proies parfois aussi grosses qu’elle. Ses proies sont généralement d'autres insectes comme des criquets, sauterelles, papillons, abeilles, mouches… Sometimes called the grass tiger because of its voracious habits, the Praying Mantis feeds on live insects that it catches with its front legs and immobilizes by sometimes first devouring their cervical nodes and then the rest of the body to the end of the abdomen. It leaves the parts too hard as some wings or legs.Its mouthparts are crusher type, which allows it to easily eat prey sometimes as large as it. Un peu d'air

Je ne sais pas s'il mangeait les racines des nénuphars, mais il en faisait des allers retours sous l'eau. I don’t know if he was eating the roots of the water lilies, but he was going back and forth underwater.
